Council
Elected Council for the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation is comprised of one Chief and two councillors. The most recent election was held in June 2007. Each council position is for a period or term of two years.
Chief
The Chief is the official spokesperson of the First Nation and is required to attend meetings with local, federal and provincial counterparts. The Chief attends council, committee and community meetings as required to provide direction to members of staff who are associated with his/her portfolio in the development of policies and programs.
Councillor
It is the councillor’s responsibility to work with the Chief and other councillors to oversee the operations of the First Nation. Councillors are required to attend meetings with local, federal and provincial counterparts and attend council, committee and community meetings as required to discuss community issues.
Chief Tracy Gauthier
Tracy was first elected as Chief in 2001. She is currently serving in her 4th term as Chief. Tracy has also served the community as a Councillor for 2 terms, from 1997-2000.

Councillor Della Charles
Della was elected as Councillor in June 2005 and is currently in her 2nd term. Della is also a Board Director for the Baagwating Community Association since 1999, and is also Treasurer of the Board.
