Providing Access to all Levels of Education

Since assuming control of their Post-Secondary Education Program in 2002, the belief of the people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation is to assist the registered members of the community including their direct relations to access post-secondary education and to obtain the qualifications and skills needed to pursue individual careers and to contribute to the achievement of economic self-sufficiency and self-government of the First Nation.

Role of the Education Advisor:
  • To encourage and ensure that members/community members have access to all levels of education.
  • To provide support services to members of the community and to assist parents engage with school administrations
  • Represent the First Nation on Indigenous Education Advisory Circles at the Durham District School Board, the Ogemawahj Tribal Council, and local Colleges and Universities.
  • Ensure that the local school board is delivering education services as contracted.
